Heywood Concert Hailed a Success!

 

Hundreds of people packed into the Heywood Civic Centre on Friday 20th March for Deeply Vale 2015, a long overdue celebration of the Music Scene in Heywood and Rochdale during the 70s and 80s and particularly the Deeply Vale Festivals which were held from 1976 to 1979 and then later on in different guises.

 

The star attraction was Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy, who played music from their 1978 album “Green” and the more modern tracks of Mirror System, when Steve Hillage played at the third Deeply Vale, over 20,000 people were crammed into the Ashworth Valley to watch him.

 

Also appearing on the night were Graham Massey of 808 State and Graham Clark of Gong, Nik Turner from Hawkwind, NotSensibles, Child's Play, Movement Banned, Victor Brox, George Borowski, Mike Sweeney, Andy T, Brian Eastwood, Wilful Damage, Andy Sharrocks from Accident on the East Lancs, Segs from the Ruts and Physical Wrecks.

 

The event was organised by Mick Spratt - director of Wigwam Acoustics who played with his band Movement Banned at the 1977 Deeply Vale, and Chris Hewitt - one of the organisers of the original Deeply Vale Festivals and stage manager and PA supplier in 1976, 1977 and 1978.
